APA_HLA_066_webI’m a playwright who lives in Ottawa, the capital of Canada.

The journey to this occupation was a roundabout one. I studied history and physics (itself an improbable combination) at Harvard and thereafter found myself working in the U.S. space program on things like space station planning. When the Canadian government decided to start its own space agency, I was invited to return to Canada to  be part of the team.

After many years of working in the space program and many other decidedly non-theatrical activities, I found myself writing plays. Curiously, the many experiences I’ve had outside the theatre are what inform my writing. Or perhaps not so curious … playwrights, like other writers, will write about the issues that are important to them, and even if we make things up we draw on what we know to make them real.
